🚨 Transphobia in the Classroom 🚨

LifeWise Academy isn’t just teaching Bible stories — they’re teaching children that being transgender is wrong. Their own instructor guide, “Difficult Questions from Students,” includes answers to kids who ask about gender identity. The message? That “God made us male or female” and students must “trust and respect God’s perfect design.”

This is the same harmful belief echoed in the comment above: that gender is something God chooses for you, and questioning that is sinful.

At the Secular Education Association, we believe all children deserve safe, affirming public schools — not classrooms where LGBTQ+ students are told they are broken or wrong for being who they are.

LifeWise’s message is clear: they don’t accept trans kids. And when they bring these lessons into public schools, they export that transphobia directly into school culture.

📢 We must stand together to keep this ideology out of public education and protect every student’s right to learn in an environment free from religious judgment and discrimination.

What people are saying:

  • Facebook User: I don’t think the scripture they quote as support for these positions is as solid as they seem to think it is.

Nowhere does it say the male and female designation is static and nowhere does it say that a person must abide by the physical appearance of gender at birth. In Psalms especially I interpreted it to mean that god knows you to your core, and you should take comfort you were made how you are supposed to be.

I think there’s plenty of room in those verses to accept people for who they are (or who they want to be) because in fact they were created that way.

    • Facebook User: On a separate note; I’m not sure why they’re give John 10:10. That one’s a strange leap for this conversation.
  • Facebook User: They are impossible to convince that no, god won’t make you straight when you become christian. That’s what I get from people in my community of Van Wert (Dirt) Ohio
  • Facebook User: Actually the form of evangelicalism I’m familiar with teaches that we are all “broken” and inherently evil. This in itself is harmful to everyone not just LGBTQ+.
  • Facebook User: My question back to them is so you are telling me God made a mistake?
  • Facebook User: There are people who are born such that neither by outward observation nor genetic analysis their gender may be objectively determined. Theology, ethics, education, and laws should consider how these people are created.
  • Facebook User: Children should be allowed to express themselves in fashion choices, preferred hobbies, and even select gender non-conforming nicknames without being told that their lack of conformity means they are less than. Gender non-conforming is cool. I share your concern for a separation of church and state, which is why I’m against religious doctrine being presented as fact in school, I hope you can see the irony of the balance of your post however.
  • Facebook User: Do any of the transphobes know that being born intersex is as common as being born a redhead? And the implications of that fact? For instance, the gender may not be clear at birth. Or the child may appear one gender at birth, yet have hormones of another gender.
  • Facebook User: Trans are mentally ill.
