🚨 PENNSYLVANIA 🚨
A parent in our private SEA group shared this today after receiving an email from their child’s public school promoting a released-time religious program:
“Just got this email today from my son’s school. I am fuming.
ETA: I emailed the superintendent to tell him that while I recognize they are legal obligated to allow this program (I’m in Pennsylvania), the school is not required to advertise for them as this email has done. I’m disgusted that they are spreading the word for them.”
⚠️ This is how it starts: a program that’s supposed to be strictly off-campus quietly slips into school-issued emails, flyers, and robocalls—using the public-school platform to recruit kids.
They will keep doing this until families speak up and make it clear that our public schools are not their advertising channel.
Parents in Pennsylvania (and everywhere else) have the right to demand that school communications stay neutral. The law lets parents choose to sign their kids out; it does not require districts to hand out invitations or boost attendance.
✍️ If you’re seeing this in your district, email your superintendent and school board. Ask them to stop using official school communication to promote outside religious programs.

Every time we let this slide, it becomes the new normal. The only way to stop it is to call it out—loudly, and together.
