🚨 IOWA & TEXAS Spotlight:
A recent piece in The N’West Iowa REVIEW highlights how LifeWise Academy is expanding inside the Boyden-Hull Community Schools
In the article, LifeWise leaders credit their growth to kids recruiting other kids:
“They are definitely the voice behind LifeWise… The kids are just on fire for God. They go back to school, and they spread the word… so much pride and joy when their friend comes.”
That isn’t organic interest — that’s a built-in recruitment pipeline happening inside the public-school day. Peer pressure isn’t choice.
At the same time, LifeWise says it boosted enrollment by sending Spanish-language sign-up forms home to families.
Yet there’s no documented, headquarters-provided Spanish-language curriculum. Some local sites have volunteers translate on the fly, but there’s no standard set of Spanish teaching materials.
That raises serious questions:
• What exactly are Spanish-speaking families being promised?
• What are children who don’t speak English fluently actually being taught — and in what language?
• Are public-school classrooms being used to pressure kids to recruit their classmates?
👉 Public schools owe families transparency and accountability.
👉 Programs that market to non-English-speaking families must provide equitable instruction in the language they advertise.
👉 Recruiting classmates during the school day crosses a line.
