đ¨GEORGIA
Listen up. Weâre not playing the âboth sidesâ game anymore. đ
We are so exhausted by this manufactured âparental rightsâ outrage cycle. đ¤
A parent said she was upset that her child participated in a totally normal, secular Halloween activity at school. Fine â families can always request to opt out. Schools accommodate that all the time. Miscommunication or not.
But instead of simply working with the teacher, this turned into:
âPublic schools are practicing witchcraftâ đ§ââď¸
and âWhy canât we have Christ in the classroom?â âď¸
And there it is.
This is the pattern we are seeing everywhere:
1. Take a completely ordinary public school activity.
2. Frame it as an attack on Christianity.
3. Use the panic to argue public schools should teach one religion.
Public schools are secular by law because they serve every family:
Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, atheist, interfaith, unsure â all of us. đ
Families who want religious instruction during the school day already have options:
⢠Christian schools
⢠Catholic schools
⢠Homeschool
⢠Church youth programs
⢠Their own home and community faith life
Public schools are not churches. âď¸âŞ
And they are not supposed to be.
We are watching the same play over and over:
âParental rightsâ = âmy religion gets to control everyone elseâs kids.â đŤ
Weâre not going to quietly watch âparental rightsâ become a tool for forcing one familyâs theology onto every child in a public school.
No.
Parental rights means:
⢠You teach your beliefs in your home.
⢠I teach mine in my home.
⢠And kids share a school where no oneâs religion is forced on anyone. đŤ
Thatâs called freedom.
Itâs called pluralism.
Itâs called public education. đ
And it protects all of our children â including hers.
