🚨 Micah Beckwith For Indiana wants to know what happened to “separation of church and state” because Muslim students at Ben Davis High School a place to pray privately….

Interesting question. 🤔

Ben Davis High School already has at least three explicitly Christian organizations:

➡️ Fellowship of Christian Athletes
➡️ United in Christ
➡️ Girls Nite In International

And all three are listed as part of the school’s Club Days programming, which takes place during the school day. 👀

👉 Girls Nite In International deserves especially close scrutiny. This is not simply a few students independently gathering to pray. It is an outside Christian ministry with adult leadership, Christian curriculum, prayer teams, mentors, fundraising, transportation, security, and extensive organizational infrastructure.

The ministry’s own website includes an endorsement from Dr. Jeffrey Butts, who was the superintendent of MSD Wayne Township—the public-school district that operates Ben Davis High School. In that endorsement, he describes how he:

➡️ Sent district guidance counselors to its annual event
➡️ Provided Chapel Hill 7th and 8th Grade Center free of charge
➡️ Strongly encouraged Wayne Township teachers and staff to become involved
➡️ Publicly praised the ministry for filling a need he said public schools could not

🚨That goes far beyond quietly accommodating the private religious exercise of students.

🚩When public-school leaders direct employees toward a Christian ministry, provide public facilities free of charge, encourage staff participation, and publicly promote the ministry, there are serious questions about whether the district crossed the line from neutral accommodation into government endorsement of religion.

🤨But Micah Beckwith did not ask what happened to separation of church and state when three Christian organizations were meeting through Club Days during the public-school day.

🤨He did not object when a superintendent encouraged public-school employees to participate in an outside Christian ministry.

🤨He became concerned only when the students praying were Muslim.

👏🏻🇺🇸Muslim students have the same religious-liberty rights as Christian students. Public schools must apply the same constitutional standard to everyone.

So yes, Micah. Let’s talk about separation of church and state. 😡 Let’s talk about ALL of it—not just the part that lets you target Muslim children while ignoring Christianity already embedded in the school day.
