🚨APPARENTLY, PARENTAL RIGHTS ARE FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED AT LIFEWISE ACADEMY.
Remember the Wadsworth, Ohio mother who explicitly objected to her three children attending LifeWise?
LIFEWISE HAS RESPONDED. AND THE AUDACITY IS UNBELIEVABLE.
The father signed an enrollment form affirming that BOTH parents agreed. Except Mom DIDN’T agree. She explicitly objected.
LifeWise knows this. Wadsworth City Schools knows this.
And their solution?
THE CHILDREN WILL CONTINUE ATTENDING LIFEWISE UNTIL THE PARENTS RESOLVE IT THROUGH MEDIATION OR THE COURTS.
Excuse us?! And here’s the kicker. LifeWise’s OWN withdrawal policy states:
“A student is considered withdrawn from the program if a parent requests for their student to no longer participate in LifeWise.”
A PARENT. NOT BOTH PARENTS.
So let’s get this straight:
👉 Dad says YES. Children attend.
👉 Mom says NO. Children keep attending.
👉 Mom disputes the consent. She’s directed toward mediation or court.
SINCE WHEN DID PARENTAL RIGHTS BECOME A RACE TO THE PERMISSION SLIP?
Well, now Mom has formally submitted withdrawal paperwork to BOTH LifeWise Academy and Wadsworth City Schools.
WILL HER SIGNATURE BE HONORED AS READILY AS HIS?
Or will LifeWise suddenly discover that one parent’s signature isn’t enough? We’re about to find out. Because parental rights shouldn’t depend on which parent gets the paperwork in first.
Why require a parent to certify that BOTH parents agree if that agreement apparently doesn’t matter once the children are enrolled? And why is continued religious instruction the default when parental consent is disputed?
THIS IS A VOLUNTARY RELIGIOUS PROGRAM. NOT A REQUIRED PART OF PUBLIC EDUCATION.
LifeWise Academy AND Wadsworth City Schools owe this family answers. Because “just don’t sign the permission slip” means NOTHING if someone else can sign it and your objection doesn’t count.
Follow us for more updates — We’re not letting this go and neither is Mom. 💁♀️
What people are saying:
- Secular Education Association: 🚨 RECEIPT #3: LIFEWISE’S RESPONSE.
“In the meantime, the children will continue attending LifeWise based on the permission form we have on file.”
LIFEWISE HAS BEEN EXPLICITLY INFORMED THAT THE FATHER’S CERTIFICATION WAS FALSE.
Yet they’re STILL relying on that very document to continue the children’s religious instruction.
Rather than investigate the alleged false certification, LifeWise tells Mom to resolve it through mediation or court.
THEY’VE BEEN PUT ON NOTICE. AND THEY’VE CHOSEN TO KEEP THE CHILDREN ENROLLED ANYWAY.
- Secular Education Association: 🚨 RECEIPT #2: LIFEWISE’S OWN WITHDRAWAL POLICY.
“A student is considered withdrawn from the program if a parent requests for their student to no longer participate in LifeWise.”
A PARENT. Not both parents.
LifeWise’s published policy:
Will LifeWise honor Mom’s withdrawal paperwork as readily as it accepted Dad’s enrollment?
- Facebook User: The whole program should be thrown out of public schools
- Facebook User: Default should always be not enrolled when there is a dispute. Shame on Lifewise
- Facebook User: This is wild 😱
The default should be removal from attendance, this is a voluntary program that opens their child up to safety concerns! - Facebook User: Highly irresponsible practices!
- Facebook User: Get LifeWise out of our public schools!!!!!
- Secular Education Association: 🚨 RECEIPT #1: LIFEWISE’S OWN ENROLLMENT FORM.
Before enrolling a child, the signing parent must affirm:
“I have the legal right to and am signing this permission form on behalf of myself and the child’s other parent or legal guardian.”
LifeWise has now confirmed that the father indicated BOTH parents agreed.
The mother says she never did.
So what exactly is the purpose of requiring that certification if LifeWise continues enrollment after learning it’s disputed?
- Facebook User: This is horrifying
- Facebook User: Oh, hell no! 👿
- Facebook User: I’d show up every day and make sure my kids weren’t leaving to attend. That’s wild.
- Facebook User: I would instruct that school that if my kid went to LifeWise I would show up the next day with an attorney and an injunction
- Facebook User: The original court order giving Mom school authority was ignored.
- Facebook User: Facebook User Facebook User Facebook User Facebook User WE NEED ACTION NOW!!!
- Facebook User: Mom should instruct the children that they are to refuse to leave their classroom to attend that cult.
- Facebook User: So even though the father LIED on the form, they are keeping the children in the program. Vile.
- Facebook User: Sick how they are indoctrinating children to tell other children they are going to hell 😡
- Facebook User: White nationalist indoctrination
- Facebook User: This is horrible.
- Facebook User: All right now this is going too far! In my opinion this constitutes kidnapping by the LifeWise organization. They are not allowed to make that decision. Those children should be removed from LifeWise until the court decides. I would immediately remove kids from school and enroll them in a homeschooling program. This is setting a very scary tone. No organization should ever be able to overrule a parent’s decision about what they do with their children.
- Facebook User: Facebook User or continue honoring a permission “signed on behalf of the other parent” if the other parent has expressly, repeatedly stated the opposite. Not very Christlike to honor a liar but what do I know🙄😤
