This is a legal alert NEOLA sent out to their district clients along with their updated policy.
We want to Thank NEOLA for addressing issues that we’ve brought up time and time again. For offering districts some of the extra guidance they desperately need.

- Facebook User: Hi! Are we able to see the policy or just the alert? In reading it looks like it’s two separate docs. Thank you!!
- Secular Education Association: Facebook User unfortunately this is all of the information we’ve been given. If there is different verbiage or a document- we’d be interested to see it as well. Our apologies!
- Facebook User: Parents Against LifewiseNo worries! I have been working on a policy to submit to my school board so just wanted to check out other verbiage. Thanks!
- Zachary Parrish: Facebook User here’s the policy update….

- Facebook User: What is NEOLA?
- Secular Education Association: Facebook User North East Ohio Learning Associates. They are an education consulting firm that’s been around for quite some time. Here is their mission statement.
- Facebook User: Facebook User They provide policy services to school boards. Most districts are members of OSBA which provides policy services but much more. I suppose there are some districts that are OSBA members but sometimes consult NEOLA? Not sure but about 700/712 districts are OSBA members.
- Secular Education Association: Facebook User 528 districts in Ohio are clients of NEOLA.
- Facebook User: Parents Against Lifewise So there is some overlap. I know of one district right now that is withdrawing from OSBA because they disliked their stance on HB8 in the lame duck 🙄 They are now debating joining NEOLA for policy needs.
- Facebook User: Parents Against Lifewise , thanks. I always appreciate that my questions are answered.
- Facebook User: Facebook User almost all school districts are members of the OSBA but that doesn’t mean they use their policy services. That is a separate charge (not included in OSBA membership). The majority of districts in Ohio use NEOLA for their policies.
- Facebook User: I’m confused aren’t their laws to keep this from happening to begin with?
- Secular Education Association: David Grubbs keep what from happening? We’d be happy to try to help clarify!
- Facebook User: Thank you so much for sharing this. You all launched action and built on it to create awareness of the many complexities re: RTRI. This will be a very helpful share for Ohioans working with their school boards to take all this into consideration. I do want to share that in speaking with our school board VP she made a valiad point, which is that the more limitations a district places on an RTRI program the more they are setting themselves up for having to monitor somehow. I believe this is what NEOLA refers to “entanglement”.
- Zachary Parrish: Here’s the updated policy itself….
