“Is it legal for LifeWise to be giving discreet (small) slips of paper to the children who attend to slip to kids at school? It has a QR code inviting them to go. My 8 year old received one from a classmate today and is devastated that I won’t allow her to go. I am upset that they are allowed to have other children recruit classmates. She feels left out now.”

What people are saying:

  • Facebook User: They gave silicone bracelets to one of my daughter’s classmates to give out to all the kids in his class a couple years ago that said “WIJD”, which I guess is the new version of WWJD, just in case anybody needs a massive punch in the face from the 90s.
  • Facebook User: Should have her kid go hand out slips of paper that says “100s of kittens in the big white van after school! Come visit!”
  • Facebook User: This is what is pushed in church. To use children to recruit others in hopes it recruits their parents to Christianity. They literally teach this in a lot of VBS, Awana etc programs. It’s disgusting.
  • Facebook User: Another reason that they don’t belong in our schools.
  • Facebook User: My daughter had that happen a year or two ago. They tell the kids in Lifewise to try to “bring a friend” and then my daughter was upset that I said she couldn’t go. Really rubbed me the wrong way.
  • Facebook User: I don’t think that’s okay, and it’s one of the things Lifewise is no longer allowed to do in my community.

They’re also not allowed to hang banners in front of the school, or a few feet down when they’re first told to move it 🙄

  • Facebook User: No they’re not allowed.. That would be considered promotion and it’s a no no…it doesn’t matter how big or small the promotion.. this should be brought to the attention of school officials.

On a personal note: I find this behavior on the part of L.W. to be very underhanded and sneaky.. which should be considered a bad influence on Children as it encourages non compliance with school policy and the law.

  • Facebook User: Complain often and loudly!
  • Facebook User: They rely on peer pressure to recruit people and then keep them in the fold. 🙁
  • Facebook User: Columbus city schools have disallowed gift objects and swag (bracelets, keychains, etc). This sounds like a way to comply with regulations like that.
  • Facebook User: That’s indoctrination 101. Start recruiting at a very young age and make them part of the “other” if they don’t join.
  • Facebook User: We’ve dealt with that. Luckily, our school has lifewise during an extra scheduled special so my eldest gets 2 art classes a week and my youngest gets 2 gyms. They love that about not going
