“New to the group and thank you for the invite. I’d like to share the response I received when I asked the leader of the Lifewise academy in the Allen East School District near Lima Ohio if they were an affirming group and here is their response:
“Good morning! I confidently would say it is not! The lessons i teach each week are strictly from the Bible… GOD created man and woman, in HIS image, and that is how GOD designed marriage. The rainbow is our promise from GOD never to flood the earth again…etc. Are we specifically anti-LGBTQ+ in our messaging? No, unless a student would specifically ask a question, Im not sure it would be outrightly discussed. But, if that were to ever happen, we would just present the Gospel and what GODs Word says…
I hope thats helpful? Im open to discuss further if you desire better explanation! Just let me know! Im here to help!”
And my reply:
“Disappointing. I’ll be sure not to refer anyone to Life Wise and let folks know—since it’s actually not biblical and instead discriminatory towards a group of amazing people. You have quoted correctly that God did design people in his image and that is exactly why Christians should be accepting of LGBTQ folks. I’d also be happy to provide you with some information to consider being an inclusive program, but I really don’t want to subject youth to hate.””

What people are saying:
- Secular Education Association: Secular Education Association
- Facebook User: I recently had an interaction on Facebook with a Director of Lifewise in our local PA school district. Revival church is holding a 2 day thing at the school. We mentioned their connection to P25 and he totally avoided the conversation when I brought receipts of their affiliation. After denying the connection to several members of the community
- Facebook User: Receipts courtesy of Facebook User. Thanks again
- Facebook User: CINO ☆ christian in name only.
- Facebook User: At least they were transparent? 🥴
- Facebook User: Facebook User YES. The harm done is immense, but even greater with churches that are open (allowing all to attend) but not affirming (not allowing LGBTQ+ to take part in all aspects of church, usually including leadership). I know someone who was part of a church for three years before she (a lesbian) found out that she wan’t allowed to teach/lead at vacation Bible school. They were open to her attending in hopes that God would change her. As an ordained minister it makes me so angry!
- Facebook User: Facebook User as it should.
- Facebook User: Facebook User I was being a little facetious, but you make good points!
