“My son came home from school upset because he is the only kid in his class that doesn’t go to Lifewise. The kids from previous years who stayed back are going this year. And of course, Lifewise sent home a packet of information to sign him up. That went into the trash and we explained to our son that we don’t agree with the stuff Lifewise teaches and he can’t go. And they seriously went to Lifewise on the first day of school. I’m waiting to see what he gets to do with the teacher during this time. He is a really good kid, so I’m hoping the teacher lets him do something fun so he doesn’t feel like he is being punished. I hate Lifewise.”

What people are saying:

  • Facebook User: So not only is the kid being punished by Lifewise, but so is the teacher. If this is during recess or lunch, then he loses that important peer time and now the teacher has to go above and beyond to entertain him when no other students are present. If this is during a specials class, now that teacher has to change her lesson plan to account for so many missing students.

Lifewise is bad for students and bad for public schools.

  • Facebook User: Someone should start teaching kids how to deprogram their peers. That’s not realistic though. We shouldn’t be telling them they can’t go just because we don’t agree with them. We should be teaching them whatever religion or spirituality we do agree with, and also teaching them about the legitimate religions and spiritualities that we don’t subscribe to. They need to know as many versions of the truth as possible so they know their Lifewise indoctrinated peers are full of it. Even if you don’t believe in god, you should be teaching your kids about the stories because they should at least be able to tell when they’re being fed Christian nationalist bigotry and they won’t be able to tell if they don’t have a solid base of what is taught in non bigoted churches.
