This article raises an important issue: LifeWise Academy brings biblical inerrancy into the school day. While many Christians sincerely hold to that theology, it is also true that inerrancy — interpreted literally — can mean teaching that women must remain silent, that LGBTQ+ students are sinful, and that only one faith perspective is valid. When such instruction happens during public school hours, it doesn’t simply “share the gospel” — it risks marginalizing students and families who don’t fit that mold.

The author rightly points out that programs like LifeWise can create confusion for children by blurring the line between official school instruction and outside religious indoctrination. A child may not be able to tell the difference between a Social Studies class and a LifeWise “Bible class” when both are woven into their school day. That confusion is dangerous, because it erodes the integrity and neutrality of public education.

SEA’s Position
• We respect the sincerity of those who wish to share their faith, but public school hours are not the place. LifeWise crosses a line by removing children from instructional time and embedding sectarian teaching into the school day.

• Good News Clubs and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) typically meet outside of school hours, but they bring their own set of problems — including aggressive proselytizing, targeting young children, and blurring boundaries between student-led activities and adult-driven agendas. These programs still raise concerns, but they are distinct from LifeWise because they do not interrupt class time.

• Liability and safety are real concerns. LifeWise relies heavily on volunteers who often do not face the same rigorous oversight as certified teachers. That gap puts children at risk and opens districts to legal liability.

• Religious coercion is unavoidable. Whether it’s lessons that exclude LGBTQ+ students or limit women’s leadership, children can feel pressured to conform to beliefs their families may not share.

• The slippery slope is clear. If one group is granted class-time access, schools will be forced to allow all comers — including groups with extremist agendas — or face lawsuits.

🚨LifeWise Academy is not just “optional religion class.” It is part of an organized effort to normalize sectarian theology inside public schools, where it does not belong. It risks children’s safety, burdens schools with liability, and undermines both inclusion and academic learning.🚨

At SEA, we stand with parents, clergy, educators, and community members who want public schools to remain places of evidence-based learning and freedom of conscience for all children — not pipelines for indoctrination.

What people are saying:

  • Facebook User: Inerrancy means the Bible is interpreted literally as truth.

  • Facebook User: “Opening the door to inerrancy as a policy is unwise during school hours. Off-site moral and religious instruction is unwise during school hours. Therefore, LifeWise is unwise during school hours.” – Thank you Pastor Robinette
