🚨 LifeWise & Background-Check Lapses in Clyde-Green Springs Exempted Village School District
Public records show LifeWise Academy isn’t following the Clyde-Green Springs school board’s own safety policy for released-time religious instruction.
🔎 Key facts:
• Board policy requires every LifeWise instructor or volunteer to submit a current BCI background check done within the past year.
• Emails show LifeWise relied on church-issued checks from 2022 — nearly three years old — and tried to use school-employee background checks instead of running its own.
• Ohio’s RTRI law also bars public-school personnel and resources from being used to run private religious instruction during the school day.
⚠️ Why it matters:
Student-safety rules exist for a reason. Using expired checks or leaning on the school’s resources undermines both the law’s guardrails and public trust.
