🚨 PARENTS: WATCH FOR “MAGIC SHOW” PITCHES IN SCHOOLS 🚨
This week at Harmon Middle School in Pickerington Ohio- parents reported that an “illusion show” was brought into a public-school assembly as a program about bullying and peer pressure.
That part seemed harmless — until every child went home with a free family ticket to a follow-up “Illusion Show” at a local Baptist church.
🔎 When parents checked the website, they found that the second show was not just entertainment — it was a religious youth rally disguised as a family magic show.
One parent called it perfectly: “Catfishing for Christ.”

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen it.
Last year families in Ohio warned us about another group — “Motivating Magic” (illusionist Chase Williams) — which used the same bait-and-switch: a school assembly → free invitation → surprise religious conversion pitch halfway through the off-campus show.

➡️ Public schools should never be used as marketing funnels for religious events.
➡️ Families deserve transparency about who’s speaking to their children during class time — and what the real purpose is.
Parents have already contacted the principal, superintendent, and FFRF about this latest incident.
If you experience something similar in your district:
• Ask your school to disclose outside presenters’ materials in advance.
• Report any proselytizing in public schools to FFRF’s legal complaint form: https://ffrf.org/legal/report-a-violation/
• Share your story with the Secular Education Association: https://www.facebook.com/groups/SecularEducationAssociation
Public schools exist to educate, not to funnel kids to religious rallies — no matter how it’s packaged.
