🎉 Oldham County: 5–0 to keep learning in the classroom.
Tonight, the Oldham County Board of Education voted unanimously to deny LifeWise Academy’s request. Board members called the proposal a “logistical nightmare” and a “massive disruption,” and affirmed that Oldham’s educators already provide strong moral and character education during the school day.
As we’ve said from the start: Parents may choose religious or moral instruction for their children—but not during the public-school day. Public instruction time must serve all students.
Huge appreciation to the local community for showing up—and to our partners in Kentucky who cited and used Secular Education Association (SEA) resources to help make the case. This is what grassroots, evidence-based advocacy looks like.
If you’re in Kentucky (or anywhere in the U.S.) and facing a similar push:
• Use SEA’s free resources and talking points.
• Connect with our network for district-specific strategy
• Share your story so we can help
Public schools belong to everyone. Keep learning in the classroom.
