BREAKDOWN: “Ten Commandments in Classrooms” in Rogers, Texas
KWTX News 10 reported that community members in Rogers, Texas donated 140 Ten Commandments posters for classrooms in Rogers ISD. 
🧩 What’s really happening
In 2025, Texas enacted Senate Bill 10, which requires every public school classroom to display a Ten Commandments poster that meets set specs (text only, legible across the room, at least 16×20 inches). If a classroom doesn’t already have one, the district must accept a compliant privately donated poster and display it; districts aren’t required to spend their own funds. 
Key statutory language (SB 10, Sec. 1.0041):
• “A public…school shall display…a…poster or framed copy of the Ten Commandments…”
• “A…school…must: (1) accept any offer of a privately donated poster…[that] meets the requirements… and (2) display the poster…”
• Poster must be at least 16 inches wide and 20 inches tall and include only the specified text. 
So donations like those in Rogers aren’t just “nice gestures”—they’re the activation mechanism the law anticipates.
⚖️ The legal backdrop
SB 10 is being challenged in federal court. On Aug. 20, 2025, a judge issued a preliminary injunction blocking enforcement in 11 specific districts (including districts around San Antonio, Austin, Houston, and Plano). Districts not covered by the injunction are being told by the Attorney General to comply when the law takes effect. 
🚨 Why this matters
Public schools must serve every student. Mandating sectarian displays risks signaling that some children belong more than others—precisely why the injunction cites serious First Amendment concerns. 
🌎 Big picture
This is part of a broader, coordinated push to inject sectarian content into public education—parallel to chaplain-in-schools bills, “success sequence” messaging, and expanded released-time programs. Texas is one major test case. 
🧭 SEA’s position
Public classrooms are not pulpits. No child’s sense of belonging should hinge on the majority’s religion. Every student deserves an education grounded in facts, fairness, and freedom of belief.

- Facebook User: Which version did they post? Can believers of the other versions provide copies for those same schools to display? Can any/all
religious sects post their moral codes to live by? Public buildings serve the public. In this country, the public schools serve students from diverse spiritual groups as well as agnostics and atheists. - Facebook User: Imagine how many lunches that money could have bought for kids who need it.

I also need to look up the teacher and see what he’s been up to the last 20 years. Thing is, I never got to see the essay, and my parents were not notified of anything. I never even told them until I was adult bc I didn’t realize what was happening when I was 14. So I have NO IDEA if there’s anyway to ask if it still exists. I suspect not.

- Facebook User: I don’t know how teachers do it….teachers print name tags for a desk and within a month a tiny corner gets ripped and there goes the rest…..kids love to poke at things.:and posters are not exempt….they are going to have to start a whole fund to replace these on a regular basis😅. just being honest.
