When They Say “We Just Want to Teach About Jesus…”
This is what our co-founder received in his inbox this week.
Messages like this are not rare — they’re constant. Adults, often strangers, sending long, unsolicited messages attempting to diagnose, convert, or “save” us because we dared to question whether public schools are the place for religious instruction.
To make assumptions about another adult being physically and mentally abused as a child, under the proclamation of God speaking to you, is concerning and frankly terrifying to those of us who do not hold similar beliefs.
If this is how adults are spoken to — with no awareness of boundaries, no respect for privacy, and no regard for personal faith — ask yourself:
👉 What makes you think they’re respecting your children’s boundaries?
👉 Do you really believe a child can freely opt out when the adults around them see dissent as spiritual brokenness?
This isn’t about faith. It’s about consent, autonomy, and basic respect.
Public schools are not pulpits.

What people are saying:
- Facebook User: What the actual F#@K!
- Facebook User: It always alarms me when I hear “god told me too” spiritual delusion is a real thing. We hear news articles all the time of people killing family members saying god told them to in the name of religious sacrifice.😔
- Facebook User: The delusion is extremely concerning omg
- Facebook User: And thank you but I am not jc person and don’t appreciatr it being shoved down my throat. Believe what you choose to believe …total respect…until you cross that line.
- Facebook User:
- Facebook User: That’s not god talking to you brother that’s untreated mental illness.
- Facebook User: I like how these people always “want to talk”. That implies a two way communication. But as with other christian nationalists, they just speak (spew is more accurate) and they do NOT listen. Then they play the victim. They are “just” trying to teach about Jesus. The evil old non-believer is being mean to them and attacking their “truths”. They like to make video and hammer the same tired, proven false, talking points and then share clips of how they “owned” their opponent.
- Facebook User: I am pretty sure that the one who wrote this is mentally ill . Delusional, grandiose, wants to be the hero. It’s not normal.
- Facebook User: Openly worshipped Satan and practiced witchcraft? I call bullshit.
