š Indigenous Peoplesā Day
Today we honor the original stewards of this land ā the Indigenous nations whose histories, languages, and knowledge systems shaped the continent long before there were schools, borders, or governments.
As advocates for truth in education, we recognize that a truly secular, inclusive public school system must teach accurate history ā not myth, not erasure.
That means acknowledging colonization, forced assimilation, and the boarding school systems that sought to silence Native childrenās languages, faiths, and identities ā often under the guise of āmoralā or āreligiousā instruction.
Our work to keep public schools free from religious indoctrination is part of a broader fight for educational spaces that respect every childās right to think freely, to learn the truth, and to be treated with dignity.
Let this day be a reminder:
š Education must tell the whole story.
š§ Justice begins with honesty.
šæ Respect for Indigenous sovereignty and voices is not symbolic ā itās essential.
Visibility, truth, and sovereignty ā thatās how we honor this day.
To center Indigenous voices today, we encourage you to learn directly from Native-led organizations like IllumiNative, NDNCollective, and Native Organizers Alliance
