🚨Updated 🚨

This isn’t a one-off situation at Anthony Wayne Local Schools —

Emails from board members make it clear this isn’t just one person’s “moment of faith.”
It’s a pattern.

One board member’s official district signature sits above a Charlie Kirk post declaring “Jesus defeated death so you can live.”

Another ends her school email with a Bible verse: “Let the words of my mouth… be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord.”

These aren’t private devotions.
They’re official communications sent through public school channels, wrapped in the district logo and authority of office.

That’s not ministry — that’s messaging.
And it tells every non-Christian family exactly where they stand.

Public service isn’t a stage for religious performance.
When you hold elected office, your words carry government weight.

Use them to build trust — not to preach.

📍Anthony Wayne Local Schools ,School Board prayer controversy

During the Sept. 15 meeting, board member Mike Stamm led a public prayer — a serious breach of the constitutional wall between church and state.

After community pushback, Stamm announced he’ll continue praying privately, not as part of official meetings. That’s the right direction — but it should never have happened in the first place.

It wasn’t a mistake.
It was a choice.

An adult, elected to uphold the law, knowingly broke it in a public forum— to make a point.

It wasn’t an act of devotion — it was an act of defiance.

He wasn’t praying for the students; he was performing faith through power — using a government platform to make a cultural statement.

That’s exactly why the Establishment Clause exists: to protect students, staff, and community members from being made a captive audience to anyone’s religion.

Public service means respecting every family — not testing the limits of church–state separation just because you can. If you have to break the law to practice your faith, you’re not defending freedom — you’re denying it to others.

School boards are government bodies. Their meetings are civic spaces meant to represent every student, parent, and taxpayer — not serve as platforms for personal religious expression.

Public schools must remain secular, inclusive, and accountable to the Constitution — not to any faith.

  • Facebook User: Hello, Secular Education Association! I am from the Anthony Wayne Local School district. I am in total agreement with your statements!! May I send you a private message regarding this?

    • Secular Education Association: Facebook User we’d be more than happy to include that in our coverage! Not that we don’t outright believe you, but for journalistic integrity is there any proof of this available?
    • Facebook User: Secular Education Association I was mistaken. Mike Stamm has a Jesus related Charlie Kirk tweet on his email.
    • Facebook User: Secular Education Association then another board member has a bible verse
    • Facebook User: Facebook User Thanks for your support! All accurate. Mike actually even changed his quote to another Charlie Kirk quote after this was brought up.
