🚨 West Virginia, Hampshire County — heads up.
This isn’t just a “poll.”
It’s a test balloon for whether the community will accept pulling kids out of class for religious instruction under the banner of “character education.”
Let’s be clear:
Public schools already teach character — through evidence-based social-emotional learning, civic engagement, and inclusive community values.
What they cannot do is outsource part of the school day to a private religious program.
Released Time Religious Instruction (RTRI) laws were never meant to open the school day to outside ministries. They were narrow exceptions carved out more than 70 years ago under specific conditions — conditions that today’s programs like LifeWise ignore or distort.
👉 Protect secular, inclusive education.
👉 Keep public instruction on public time.
👉 Say no to removing kids from school for church-run “classes.”
📣 Comment on the Hampshire Review post and make sure your community understands what’s really at stake.
Kids deserve an education — not evangelism — during their school day.
