🚨 OHIO: Ten Commandments Bill = Same Christian Nationalist Crew 🚨
The Ohio Senate just passed SB 34 (23–10), a bill that would force every district to pick “historical documents” to hang in every classroom—and they quietly slipped the Ten Commandments onto that list alongside the Constitution and other actual founding documents.
The Ten Commandments are not a U.S. founding document. Putting a specific religious text on public school walls isn’t “history,” it’s religious endorsement and a direct slap at kids who aren’t part of that faith.
And look who’s behind it:
• Sen. Terry Johnson – Sponsor of SB 34, the guy who built the bill that treats the Ten Commandments like a neutral “historical” poster.
• Sen. Andrew Brenner – Chair of the Senate Education Committee, blocked efforts to remove the Ten Commandments and also helped push the “Parents’ Bill of Rights” that supercharged released-time Bible programs like LifeWise.
• Backed by groups like Family Research Council, Christian Business Partnership, and Ohio Christian Alliance—the same networks pushing Christian nationalist policies in public schools across the country.
State Senator Andrew Brenner – Ohio 19th Senate District— you’re not fooling anyone with this “districts can decide what to display” nonsense. You wrote a bill that forces every classroom to hang something from your tiny state-approved list, then told schools they don’t even need to use their own money because they can just accept “donated” displays. We all know exactly how that plays out: a well-organized religious group (already being set up as we speak) shows up with a stack of Ten Commandments posters, calls them a donation, and suddenly that “local choice” is nothing but a setup.
Don’t pretend this is neutral. You built the funnel, you paved the road….
This is all one project:
✝️ Ten Commandments on the walls
⛪ LifeWise-style Bible classes during the school day
🏷️ Less neutrality and safety for any student who doesn’t fit their worldview
SB 34 now heads to the Ohio House. Tell your state rep to vote NO and remind your local school board: your oath is to the Constitution, not to one religion.
