These are the voices school boards are supposed to hear.
During the Everett Public Schools.WA School Board meeting, parent after parent, educator after educator, and community member after community member used public comment to speak out against LifeWise Academy and released-time programs.
These were not outside groups. They were people who live in the district — raising concerns about lost instructional time, pressure on families, and decisions being made without transparency or local control.
We’re sharing the public comment portion of the meeting so you can hear directly from the community — in their own words.
We’re also linking a written statement that was formally submitted to the school board and shared with us, so readers can see what was said on the record, in full.
Listen to the voices.
Read the statement.
This is what community accountability looks like.

What people are saying:
- Facebook User: Good for parents for speaking up!
- Facebook User: The Everett Public School District has the legal right to deny LIFEWISE access to students during the school day.
Given the bullying techniques of this group to gain special privileges and given the group’s disruption of normal school routine, the District should deny Lifewise access into the school or to remove students from the school.
