🚨 Curriculum Transparency Issue 🚨
Per the settlement agreement resolving LifeWise Academy’s SLAPP-style copyright lawsuit against our co-founder, LifeWise states that anyone may request 48-hour access to review LifeWise curriculum materials.
Through a public records request, Secular Education Association obtained curriculum promotional materials that were made available to a public school district.
Based on that records production, we are concerned that the 48-hour review access may not include all curricula LifeWise advertises and offers to students.
LifeWise publicly promotes:
Elementary school curriculum
Middle school curriculum
Three distinct high school curriculum options, including:
-a no-credit program
-a high school credit curriculum
-a dual high school / college credit curriculum
However, the materials made available for review did not appear to include all curriculum tracks, particularly at the high school level.
📄 The records we obtained through the public records request, along with the relevant portions of the settlement agreement, are pictured below.
When released-time religious instruction occurs during the public school day, parents and school boards must be able to review the entire curriculum being offered—not a limited or selectively provided subset.
📣 If you or your district have requested the 48-hour curriculum review recently and were not given access to all curricula (including high school options), please let us know.
