🚨 LifeWise Quietly Rewrote Its Rules — A Summary of What Changed

Between April 2024 and August 2025, LifeWise Academy quietly overhauled how it operates during the public school day.

What was once a short, loosely structured policy template more than doubled in size, adding new sections and rewriting others in ways that directly affect student safety, medical care, discipline, reporting, attendance, and liability.

These were not cosmetic edits.

Across the document, LifeWise’s own policies now acknowledge what the organization has long downplayed publicly:

➡️ Released-time religious programs are deeply entangled with public schools — and depend on them to function.

What the Changes Reveal

• More central control, less “local ministry”
• Attendance = accountability
• Blurred lines around visitors and liability
• Schools absorbing responsibility when things go wrong
• Medical and behavioral authority without professional safeguards
• Background checks without fingerprinting
• Incentives tied to religious participation
• Controversial policies quietly softened or removed
• Brand control enforced while safety remains optional

Why This Matters

This overhaul doesn’t show a well-prepared organization proactively safeguarding children.

It shows an organization reacting — to scrutiny, incidents, legal risk, and operational reality — while continuing to operate during the public school day without the training, staffing, or infrastructure of a school.

Many of these changes followed years of public records requests, reporting, and documentation by parents and advocates, including members of the Secular Education Association.

When districts are told LifeWise is “separate,” “off-campus,” or “not the school’s responsibility,”
LifeWise’s own policies now say otherwise.

These revisions don’t resolve the tension at the heart of released-time religious instruction.

They document it.
