🚨 This is exactly the problem. Read it carefully.

This comment was left in response to reports that adults handed religious materials directly to children during public school dismissal, at a school-controlled crosswalk, without parental consent.

Notice what happens next.

The focus shifts away from:
• child safety
• consent
• school boundaries

…and onto a moral appeal about a child’s “eternal destiny.”

That framing is not accidental.

It reframes a boundary violation as an act of love, and positions parents and schools who object as cruel or immoral — rather than acknowledging that these were not their children and not an appropriate setting.

Public schools are not mission fields.
Children are not outreach opportunities.
No belief system gets a special exemption from consent.

This is why clear boundaries exist — and why they matter. THIS is why it’s harmful.

If this makes you uncomfortable, it should. If it doesn’t, imagine it coming from a belief system you don’t share.

What people are saying:

  • Facebook User: Fundamentalists, of every flavor, believe they have the only truth, and they are compelled to convert everyone, no matter what they have to do. FYI, that “Jesus died for us” is only one of the acceptable explanations for his purpose. Many Christians trust other explanations, such as Jesus as role model, showing us how to love extravagantly.
  • Facebook User: Stranger danger. Thats why.
  • Facebook User: Let’s start here.
  • Facebook User: They need everyone to believe what they believe.
  • Facebook User: I just saw this in a post below in my feed
  • Facebook User: It is harmful because it is spreading a myth with guilt and once again creating the “other.” It is saying that if you do not believe the way we believe then you are wrong and immoral which is a complete lie. It is Adults indoctrinating children, and children have no right to argue against adult lies. They are dependent on adults for their care and safety. It angers me to read such fallacies.
  • Facebook User: If a parent tells there kid they don’t deserve the parents love bc they are born bad. If a parent tells a kid they are going to burn in a lake of fire forever if they break some rules…. It’s considered abuse…. How is it any different when people tell kids about that about God
  • Facebook User: NOT. IN. SCHOOLS.
    I wish they’d stop with the wide-eyed innocence sh!t.
  • Facebook User: How about not sharing such beliefs. Get away from people’s kids!
