🚨 What’s Happening With “America 250” Civics Education — And Why It’s So Concerning…

As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, the U.S. Department of Education has formally partnered with a large coalition of ideological and advocacy organizations to shape what they describe as “patriotism,” “civic knowledge,” and “America’s founding principles” in schools.

This initiative is called the America 250 Civics Education Coalition.

This is not speculation. It is documented in official federal announcements.

⚠️

Civic education in public schools should be:

✔ inclusive
✔ evidence-based
✔ non-sectarian
✔ non-partisan

When the federal Department of Education formally partners with organizations that actively litigate culture-war issues, promote religious exemptions in public schools, or advocate for ideological control over curriculum, parents and communities deserve transparency and scrutiny.

This is especially concerning given ongoing efforts nationwide to:

• mandate religious release programs during the school day
• insert religious or ideological content into public classrooms
• reframe church–state separation as “hostility to religion”

📌 SEA’s position is simple:

Public schools exist to educate — not to indoctrinate.

Patriotism is not allegiance training.

Civic literacy does not require ideological gatekeepers.

We will continue to document, verify, and inform families about how national policy decisions impact local public schools.

🧭 Stay informed. Ask questions. Demand accountability.
