Help end child marriage in Ohio — for good.

The Secular Education Association (SEA) is proud to be part of a statewide coalition led by Unchained At Last, urging lawmakers to pass SB 341, a critical bill that would end marriage before age 18 with NO exceptions.

Right now, Ohio law still allows courts to approve marriages involving 17-year-olds. That loophole puts minors at serious risk — legally, physically, and emotionally. Marriage before 18 strips young people of basic legal protections and creates barriers that make escaping coercion or abuse incredibly difficult.

SB 341 would:
✔️ End child marriage outright
✔️ Protect minors’ legal rights
✔️ Bring Ohio in line with states that have already closed this loophole

🛑 Ohio should not become a destination state for child marriage.

SEA’s work to keep public schools secular and neutral goes hand-in-hand with protecting minors from coercive systems that strip them of basic legal rights — including child marriage.
