This is the hypocrisy at the heart of LifeWise.
You cannot scream about “indoctrination” in public schools and then turn around and support LifeWise.
You cannot claim kids need more reading, more critical thinking, and more academic focus — while backing a program that pulls them out of instructional time for religious lessons.
You cannot pretend public education is about “the basics” while telling students that art, music, PE, and other parts of the school day matter less than a private religious curriculum.
That is not protecting public education.
That is not academic excellence.
And that is not fighting indoctrination.
It is privileging religion during the school day and expecting the public not to notice.
Public schools are for all children. Their time belongs to education — not to outside religious organizations looking for special access to students.
This speaker called out the hypocrisy directly, and more communities need to start doing the same.

Watch. Listen. Share. It’s up to us to sound the alarm. 🚨
They called teachers indoctrinators. Now they want to hand kids over to a religious program during school hours.

Facebook User - Secular Education Association: Transcript for accessibility: 0:01) Indoctrinate, to imbue with an unusually partisan opinion, point of view, or (0:06) principle. For the past four years this is a word we’ve heard a lot from this (0:09) board. Most of you ran on fighting against indoctrination in our schools (0:13) and you’ve made attacks against teachers claiming they were indoctrinating and (0:16) grooming our children.
Most of you also ran on bringing back, bringing (0:21) education back to the basics, reading, writing, arithmetic, and you’ve made (0:24) claims that our children can’t read or think critically. So obviously it makes (0:27) sense that this board would vote to discuss signing an MOU with a Christian (0:32) nationalist organization life-wise. I mean what better way to fight against (0:35) indoctrination and lack of reading and critical thinking skills than to pull (0:39) kids out of instructional time that is mandated by NCDPI standards.
Obviously it (0:45) makes sense to ban a book that shares a black man’s perspective while supporting (0:49) teaching kids a narrow interpretation of the Bible through the perspective of (0:52) white Jesus. And sure, let’s continue to disrespect the expertise and skills of (0:57) our teachers by pulling kids out of school for an inferior curriculum (1:00) brought to you by a college football player with a degree in communications (1:04) and media studies. How does it make sense to pull kids out of school resulting in (1:10) them not learning required instructional standards outlined by NCDPI? Is that how (1:15) we teach kids to read and think critically? And are you seriously going (1:20) to tell our specials teachers that what they teach does not matter? That (1:24) indoctrinating our kids through a white Christian nationalist curriculum is (1:28) more valuable than NCDPI’s mandated standards for art, music, and physical (1:33) education? Once again, you’ve proven that you’re not interested in educating kids.
(1:39) You’re here to indoctrinate. And finally, thank you to Port City Daily for (1:45) informing the public that LifeWise was brought to us by none other than (1:50) Pat Bradford. Thank you. - Facebook User: 👏🏼 👏🏼 I love ladies like this!! Who stand up for children and public education!!! 👏🏼

- Facebook User: They are wolves in sheep’s clothing
- Facebook User: They are also putting Turning Points in High Schools!!!
- Facebook User: Are they pulled out of instructional time or lunch?
- Secular Education Association: Facebook User both! Depends on the state and sometimes the district. But Lifewise (any release time program) can and does happen -during lunch, recess, core classes, and specials. Some states protect core classes and some don’t.
- Facebook User: Facebook User I’m retired now but they pulled students out of my STEM class which met once a week. So, any student that attended LifeWise missed an entire quarter or even year of STEM instruction. We were instructed to give an NG, No Grade, to those students. It was always on Tuesday, so if a student had music, art, library or gym on Tuesdays, they missed that special for however long they did LifeWise.
