Antisemitism does not just materialize on its own. It is fed by the teachings, narratives, and institutions that keep harmful ideas alive and pass them down.
That is part of why this article out of Carmel, Indiana matters. A city post about an upcoming Holocaust remembrance ceremony was flooded with antisemitic comments. Even a public act of remembrance for one of history’s greatest atrocities became a target for hatred.
That should disturb every one of us.
And at a time like this, public schools should not be opening the door to school-day religious programs tied to curriculum traditions that have echoed harmful anti-Jewish tropes.

That is not harmless baggage. That is part of a long history of religious scapegoating that has helped fuel antisemitism for generations.
