Nationally, about 1 in 9 people live in poverty.
In Fort Wayne, Indiana – it’s about 1 in 6.
So why is a family entertainment venue helping raise money for a multimillion-dollar organization like LifeWise Academy?
Power Up Action Park and Fieldhouse is promoting a group whose model depends on pulling public school children out of class during the school day for religious instruction.
That should raise two serious questions:
Why is a kid-centered venue helping normalize a school-day religious release program at all?
And why are families in a city with higher-than-average poverty being asked to help fundraise for an organization that reported about $35.3 million in revenue and $24.9 million in net assets on its Form 990?
This is how LifeWise grows. Not just through churches or school board decisions, but by embedding itself into everyday community spaces and making its presence feel normal, friendly, and community-backed.
But it is not neutral.
Public schools should be secular.
Family spaces should not be used to normalize school-day religious instruction.
And communities where families are already stretched thin should not be treated like fundraising pipelines for wealthy national organizations.
What people are saying:
- Secular Education Association: If you see LifeWise being promoted outside of churches — at businesses, schools, event venues, libraries, youth spaces, or family-centered community locations — send us a screenshot or link at contact@seculareducationassociation.org. SEA is tracking this nationwide.
- Facebook User: Secular Education Association I know y’all know this, but the Ten Commandments in Texas public schools are so disturbing. Here’s a picture I took of one hanging in a classroom of the school where I teach. Every time I see one I get so angry. This is just the start of their push to privatize and destroy the public education system even more.
- Secular Education Association: Facebook User Thank you for sharing this. Seeing religious doctrine posted in a public school classroom is deeply troubling, and we know many educators are being put in an impossible position.
Public schools should be inclusive spaces for every student, not places where the government signals religious favoritism.
We appreciate you documenting this. If you are comfortable, please send us a message or email (contact@seculareducationassociation.org). SEA is tracking this and listening to educators.
- Facebook User: Secular Education Association I sent y’all an email. Thanks for fighting the good fight.

Facebook User - Facebook User: “Their lunch HOUR”??!! What school children get an hour? Barely 25 minutes once they get through the line and sit down to eat. Even if they did get an hour why would they think it was good idea to interrupt that lunchtime to shove their propaganda book down their throats? This is problematic on so many levels.
- Secular Education Association: Facebook User we agree! And here’s the part people need to understand: in this state it happens during lunch, but in many other places children are pulled from art, music, and sometimes even core classes, depending on state law. This is not just “free time” or a harmless break in the day — it can come at the direct expense of a child’s public education.
- Facebook User: Facebook User in my grands’ school they get 20″ for lunch and 20″ recess before or after. But there are 5 lunch times over a 2 hr period (transfer times between sessions) so I doubt LW comes 5 separate times….thankfully they have yet to infiltrate their school system . LW is just a prep program for creating little soldiers for the “Let’s turn this country in a Christian Nationalist nation.” It teaches intolerance, it disrupts the school day..for everyone, not just those attending. You want your child to receive daily religious training? Send them to a religious school..one that actually follows your personal religious teaching and values.
- Facebook User: I am guessing that they also advertise sports fundraisers and PTO fundraisers. No one said they have to participate. Ask whomever’s class that this is in, what else they put on their board. Get the full story.
- Secular Education Association: Facebook User This is not a classroom board. And even if participation is optional, optional does not make it neutral. The issue is a kid-centered community venue helping promote and normalize a school-day religious program tied to a wealthy national organization. That is what this post is about.
- Facebook User: Secular Education Association Neutral doesn’t exist. Neutral means not taking sides. This is exactly what you are doing.
- Facebook User: thank you for sharing. i’ve seen life wise busses around the southwest fort wayne area (summit, woodside, homestead schools). i don’t work in the schools, but i used to work at the ymca out there. i live northeast fort wayne and have not seen any busses out here
- Facebook User: Veronica Genae they are in every district in the county. Our daughter is in NACS and they started there last year. Last year it was just 4th and 5th grade in two of the eight elementary schools. This year they are grades 1-5 in three of the eight and two grades in two of the others. Their goal is to continue to fundraise and expand.
I’m under the impression that they don’t have near the enrollment in Allen County that they do in area counties. Our daughter is in the first grade and has told us that there is one person out of 20 in her class that goes.
I’ve been wanting to file a freedom of information act request. Facebook User, can you help me with that?
- Zachary Parrish: Facebook User absolutely

- Facebook User: Yeah, let’s fundraise for the company that cleared more than 17 million dollars in profit last year! Follow the money.
- Secular Education Association: Facebook User exactly this.
- Facebook User: Ponzi scheme and a cult like atmosphere.
