Antisemitism does not just appear.
It is taught.
It is repeated.
It is excused until it shows up in public like this.
A gas pump in Muskingum County blaming Jewish people for gas prices is not “just a sticker.” And a Holocaust remembrance post in Carmel, Indiana being flooded with antisemitic comments is not “just the internet.” And just this month, a man rammed a vehicle into Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, Michigan in what the FBI called a targeted act of violence against the Jewish community.
This is what normalized hate looks like.
And it is one reason public schools should not be opening the door to school-day religious programs tied to traditions that have carried anti-Jewish tropes for generations.

That history is not harmless.
That baggage is not neutral.
And public schools should not be anywhere near it.
