Second graders should not be acting out blood rituals during the school week.
Yet here we are.
This is what gets marketed to communities as “character education.”
Young children painting symbolic blood on doors as part of a lesson about biblical plagues and death — then returning to their public school classrooms as if this is just another normal enrichment activity.
Let’s say the quiet part out loud:
If any other religion were pulling second graders out of the school day to participate in ritual reenactments involving blood symbolism, there would be national outrage.
But because this is evangelical Christianity, we are told to call it harmless.
Parents deserve the truth about what these programs actually are.
Not the marketing version.
Not the soft language.
The reality.
Public schools should not be expected to normalize religious indoctrination and then absorb the impact when children bring these experiences back into the classroom.
This is exactly why transparency matters.

There are so many other, appropriate ways, to teach this story…and of course, not during the school day! But please don’t bash someone else’s customs or beliefs.
