They say it’s “just prayer.”
But it’s scripture about rejecting other beliefs,
targeting public school teachers by name,
inside a program that runs during the school day.
While public education is being dismantled at the same time.
This is not harmless.
This is coordinated.
What people are saying:
- Facebook User: I saw a post where they had the students pray for the school’s science teachers , as though teaching science is a bad thing that teachers need to be prayed out of.
- Facebook User: This is not appropriate for public schools. It segregates students who are not Christian.
- Facebook User: Once again, the God haters and atheists try to force everyone else to be dictated to by them. Rather, this passage is about freedom of religion. The Jews in captivity would not be forced to worship other gods, only the one true God. LMAO and shaking my head at feeble attempts at Bible interpretation by Godless morons.
- Secular Education Association: Facebook User Calling people “morons” while claiming moral authority isn’t exactly making your case.
And this isn’t about whose Bible interpretation “wins.”
It’s about whether a religious program operating during the school day should be singling out public school teachers by name and promoting one belief system over others.Public schools serve everyone. That’s the point.
- Facebook User: Facebook User if it was about freedom of religion, which ai totally support, they would not be trying to shove it down the throats of young children during their secular public school day.
- Facebook User: Facebook User the point is, IT HAS NO PLACE IN PUBLIC EDUCATION!
- Facebook User: Facebook User why would teachers need to be associated with the prayer?
- Facebook User: Facebook User Facebook User If you are capable of giving coherent expression to your thoughts, you should try that in your next post. The present one is dyspeptic gibberish.
- Facebook User: Facebook User did your 6 friends tell you that?
- Facebook User: Facebook User Godless people and atheists are surly and nasty, aren’t they?
- Facebook User: Facebook User I don’t know, ask your 6 friends
- Facebook User: Facebook User there’s no hate like Christian love.
- Secular Education Association: Facebook User Calling people “morons” while claiming moral authority isn’t exactly making your case.
- Facebook User: To be clear, they prayed for those particular teachers due to a difference in religious belief/philosophy? It was unclear to me — without more context I may have assumed these individuals may be going through a hard time (sickness, tragedy, etc) or something.
- Facebook User: Facebook User I saw in a different lifewise post with different teachers and schools that they were praying for the science teachers by name. Knowing what I know about this group, I wouldn’t be surprised if they were targeting teachers who they believe believe differently from lifewise. But you’re right, it’s not clear.
- Facebook User: Facebook User yeah I hate Lifewise, but I’m going to need some more context here. I would assume those teachers are sick or something without having more details.
- Facebook User: Facebook User I did a search of the faculty and staff of this high school. Mr. Brodwolf teachers Talented and Gifted; Ms. Vennekotter is the Media Specialist. No way of knowing why they were selected for prayers.
- Facebook User: BTW, Shadrack, Mesach, and Abadnego are the Beastie Boys.
- Facebook User: Okay, so let’s try this; those folks offering up this prayer, show us. Faith is so strong walk into that burning fiery furnace, if your god saves you, well then we can talk.
- Facebook User: Is there not legal action those teachers can take? If someone from another faith publicly posted prayers naming specific Lifewise staff like that I’d bet they’d be calling it harassment
- Facebook User: Facebook User I would start with a simple request — I appreciate the prayer but I don’t want people to see my name and think I am affiliated with LifeWise. Please remove my name from your post.
