Now it’s “spiritual warfare.”
That’s what they call it when a community starts pushing back on religious access to public school children during the school day.
And this line should stop everyone cold..
“We will not quit trying to reach all children and families.”
All children?
All families?
Mine? Yours?
What if we do not consent?
Public schools are not a battlefield.
Our children are not prizes to be won or war trophies.
And let’s be honest: during the school day, they are a captive audience.
Which is exactly why this should never be allowed.
That is not persecution.
That is a boundary.
And our children deserve one.
What people are saying:
- Facebook User: Uh, no…separation of church and and state….not indoctrination by white nationalists
- Facebook User: Spiritual warfare?? Isn’t that somewhat of a paradox?
- Secular Education Association: Facebook User That’s what stood out to us too. If it’s ‘spiritual warfare,’ then who are the targets? Because public school kids aren’t supposed to be caught in the middle of anyone’s religious battle.
- Facebook User: No child is forced to participate and it is voluntary and parents must give consent. Children, and more specifically, parents have the freedom to choose whether to participate or not.
- Secular Education Association: Facebook User yes yes we know: we’ve been over this ad nauseam “Just don’t sign up” is not the brilliant point you think it is.
Once the school day is disrupted for religious programming, everybody is affected. Kids who leave. Kids who stay. Staff. Classrooms. Scheduling. Social pressure.
So no, it is not “really that simple.”
- Facebook User: Facebook User how is this voluntary? This is coercion.
- Facebook User: Facebook User my parents forced me to participate in the church until i turned 18, so it’s not exactly honest to say no child is forced to participate. lots of children are forced against their will to do things they don’t want to, and that includes participating in religion. and i’m talking about any religion, not just christianity.
- Facebook User: Lora Bradley how do you feel about this club being in public schools? Kids aren’t forced to participate. It is voluntary. Parents must give consent. But, I bet you and people like you will (and have!) lose your SHIT when this shows up in your kid’s or grandkid’s public school.
- Facebook User: Facebook User I am a teacher. I am “en loco parentis”. That means I am legally responsible for the safety, well-being and learning of every child in my class. I need them IN my class, with their classmates, doing our learning day 6 hours every day. Religious instruction can occur outside of my time.
- Facebook User: Facebook User Shouldn’t take place during the school day.
- Facebook User: Secular Education Association As a retired elementary school teacher who had to deal with the disruption to instruction caused by a local program called Weekday Religious Education, I can vouch for what you’re stating.
- Secular Education Association: Facebook User we would REALLY like to hear your perspective and experience about Weekday Religious Instruction. Our focus began on Lifewise but our organization grew because of ALL those types of programs and the myriad of different ways religion has been inserted into our public schools. Send us an email if you’re comfortable doing so. Contact@seculareducationassociation.org. We do not have to use your name or location. But hearing the TRUTH from teachers is priceless for our fight. Thank you for commenting here and sharing!!
- Facebook User: Secular Education Association I will do that. Thank you for caring about keeping religion and public education separate!
- Secular Education Association: Facebook User Thank you for your many years of service to our countries children!
- Facebook User: Facebook User you cowards never answer.
- Secular Education Association: Facebook User yes yes we know: we’ve been over this ad nauseam “Just don’t sign up” is not the brilliant point you think it is.
- Facebook User: There are churches and communities all around us for those who seek spiritual and religious support. This is not meant to be a part of our children’s school day, unless families choose a private, religious or Sunday school.
Public schools are not meant to be a place where religion is taught. We can’t possibly teach all religions and to not provide equity is illegal.
If spiritual community is what you seek, if bible study is important to you, then teach your children that and search out the community you want.
Please do not bring religion into public schools and go against our constitution. - Facebook User: Stay out of public schools!!!!!
- Facebook User: “What if we don’t consent?”
Then your kids don’t go to Life wise. It’s really that simple. Parents have to sign their children up to go. Please don’t act like they are being forced.- Secular Education Association: Facebook User “Just don’t sign up” is not the brilliant point you think it is.

There’s so much more to this than “just don’t sign up”. It’s against the constitution.
It disrupts the school system and atmosphere.
The teachers are left to deal with situations caused by the disruption. The social disruption. Kids don’t understand why some go and some don’t. They give treats and prizes to try and convince others to join.
It’s all of the old indoctrination tricks.
It’s disgusting and unacceptable - Facebook User: Secular Education Association
Exactly - Facebook User: I’m a teacher, and there’s no disruption in the school I work in or the one my own children attend. Make sure you are asking opinions of those who witness first hand before assuming.
- Facebook User: Facebook User oh? Thos isn’t force?
- Facebook User: Brittany Miller let’s bring you up to speed….shall we? LifeWise is intent on disrupting and dismantling public education. They aim to normalize the indoctrination of children via our publicly funded, safe, secular education system and literally pit children against each other. This is not normal, it is not benign, it is indeed harmful. Harmful for our kids, our schools, our communities, and our democracy.
- Facebook User: I have no idea what school that happened at, but I can promise you it wasn’t the one I work at or my children attend. If that actually happened, that instructor should not be teaching for Life wise.
- Secular Education Association: Facebook User “Just don’t sign up” is not the brilliant point you think it is.
- Facebook User:
- Facebook User: Facebook User
- Facebook User: Facebook User 🤣🤣🤣🤣
- Facebook User: Isn’t that what after-school and Sunday school is for? Shouldn’t the school day be based on reading writing math science history and the arts, religion is not part of the core curriculum! Keep your religion to yourself. If I wanted my children in your religion I would join a church.
- Secular Education Association: Facebook User our sentiments exactly!
- Facebook User: I wish I could respond to Lifewise, freedom of religion means freedom of choice!! Not all families choose lifewise academies type of relgion or any!
- Facebook User: Freedom of religion also means freedom FROM religion.
- Facebook User: You can
- Facebook User: Facebook User they block you.
- Facebook User: They always blame “the devil”
- Facebook User: Teach it after school hours or at Sunday school.
- Facebook User: Somehow this reminds me of “The Blues Brothers!” As Elwood said, “We’re on a mission from God.” In the case of LifeWise, PRETENDING to be fighting a spiritual war is used for one simple reason: it pulls in more MONEY. You get more actual good by buying a PowerBall ticket… As the SEA often says, “Public Schools Are NOT Your Churches.”
- Secular Education Association: Facebook User absolutely! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
- Facebook User: Facebook User . It would be very disruptive to teaching, scheduling etc. Urge your district to not allow it!
- Facebook User: Lifewise’s pressure, shunning, and bullying are bad for schools.
- Facebook User: JFC! Go to church! Are these people just lazy or what!
- Facebook User: nah, groomers, I won’t be doing that.
- Facebook User: Stand on your faith, fine! ON YOUR OWN TIME
- Facebook User: Pray on your own time. Stay out of public schools.
- Facebook User: Facebook User hi. The constitution allows freedom of religious express anywhere you are. Children are allowed to pray in schools. Teachers are too. You are allowed to pray anywhere you are.
- Facebook User: Facebook User just don’t make them and don’t do it so it bothers those who don’t want to hear it.
- Facebook User: They appear uninvited, try to infiltrate public schools, and when they are opposed, it’s “spiritual warfare”?! Ok then, we are ready to do battle, bc they don’t belong in public schools. Period.
- Facebook User: Facebook User A TP Club America group in a public HS in Arizona has Erika Kirk coming to speak to the students in the club and a student they invite during lunch in the middle of the school day. 🤦🏼♀️
- Facebook User: Well, I’d hope by high school they’re capable of knowing the fly specks from the pepper!
- Facebook User: Facebook User they’ve been invited. Parents and children volunteer to participate. In fact, many families are excited about their presence.
- Facebook User: Is this Lakewood WA?
- Facebook User: Facebook User Thornville, Ohio near Buckeye Lake
- Facebook User: Facebook User thank you. We have LW in our district in Gig Harbor Wa… we have a Lakewood a few miles south so I wanted to check before I sounded the alarm.
- Secular Education Association: Facebook User every dot is a district that is already targeted by Lifewise. FYI. You can search the map at map.seculareducationassociation.org
- Facebook User: Facebook User no matter where they are they can’t seem to keep their church to themselves.
- Facebook User: Facebook User it’s so bad
- Facebook User: I can’t wait to see what spiritual warfare actually means 🙂 have them define it
- Facebook User: Facebook User I keep meaning to show up and show Valerie real “good trouble”!
- Facebook User: Facebook User I just asked them that very question!
- Facebook User: Facebook User hi. Spiritual warfare refers to the metaphorical battle between good and evil for the souls of mankind. Evil forces (Satan, the devil, sin, demons, etc.) tempt mankind into disobeying God’s plan for their life, rejecting salvation, and try to get mankind to live in separation from their Creator.
- Facebook User: David Schoennenbrenner So I did a Google search so you don’t have to take my word on it.
Spiritual warfare is the Christian concept of an unseen, spiritual battle between good and evil, where believers combat demonic forces (Satan and his minions) that seek to destroy, deceive, or pull people away from God. It involves both internal struggles against sin (the flesh) and external resistance against spiritual evil, fought with spiritual weapons like prayer, faith, and scripture, rather than physical force.

Key aspects of spiritual warfare include:
The Enemy: The battle is not against “flesh and blood,” but against demonic powers, the fallen world, and sinful temptations.
The Goal: Satan seeks to thwart God’s plans, cause, suffering, and hinder the spread of the Gospel.
The Armor of God: As outlined in Ephesians 6, believers use spiritual armor—truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God—to stand firm against attacks.
The Weapons: Key tools include prayer, fasting, praise, worship, and proclaiming the truth of God.
Ultimate Victory: While it is a daily fight, Christian theology emphasizes that Jesus Christ has already secured the ultimate victory over evil, and believers are enforcing that victory.

- Facebook User: Omg i want to engage in spiritual warfare! Sign me up.
- Facebook User: Facebook User TAKE ME! We can bring a happy birthday baby Jesus cake too
- Facebook User: Teach all you want, but do it after school.
