🚨 INDIANA

No parent sent their kid to school for this.

Not for surprise political messaging.
Not for off-script speeches.
And definitely not for a captive-audience moment with a sitting politician.

Let’s be clear about what happened in Valparaiso:

🔴Families were not notified.

🔴Students were given materials the district admits had no place in the school.

🔴Students were kept in the auditorium when the event ran over.

🔴And the speaker went off-script directly to kids.

And this wasn’t just any speaker.

Indiana Lt. Gov. Micah Beckwith is not just some random official who accidentally wandered into a school.

He is a Life Church pastor, a self-described Christian nationalist, a former Indiana Family Institute/Action figure, a “Jesus, Sex and Politics” podcaster, and a public official who has repeatedly blurred the line between church, politics, and state power.

He has been tied to book-restriction fights, hosted WallBuilders figures at his church, and drew backlash for calling the Three-Fifths Compromise “a great move.”

So no, parents are not overreacting when they object to him getting access to public school students. If he had his way our public education system would be obliterated and replaced with privatized Christian education.

Public schools are not churches.

They are not campaign stops.

And they are not a captive audience for anyone’s religious-political agenda.

They belong to every student; regardless of what they believe, or don’t.

Calling this a “scheduling gap” is not accountability.

It’s damage control.

This is what it looks like when boundaries fail.

And it’s exactly why those boundaries exist in the first place.

STAY AWAY FROM OUR KIDS.

  • Facebook User: Facebook User STAY AWAY FROM OUR KIDS!!
  • Facebook User: I deeply respect Dr. McCall’s response. Obviously his loyalty and care are for ALL the kids in the school system, for which I thank him.
  • Facebook User: Did you read his immature response?
    • Secular Education Association: Facebook User isn’t it absolutely ridiculous? What an embarrassment!
    • Facebook User: Secular Education Association just beyond unprofessional
    • Facebook User: And the fact he attacked a music program at another public school yesterday? This man is unbelievable.
  • Facebook User: Oh but it’s fine for schools to preach the LGBTQ religion?
    • Facebook User: Facebook User Please tell us how schools preach that? Which they don’t but go on..
    • Facebook User: Facebook User wake up, dude.
    • Facebook User: Facebook User Mmkay dude
    • Facebook User: Facebook User yes. Glad I could help.
    • Facebook User: Exactly. Doesn’t need to be expressed to our children. It’s pure garbage
    • Facebook User: Gaaaaaaay
    • Facebook User: Facebook User it’s not a religion, you’re reaching.
    • Facebook User: Matt Morris what speaker spoke about LGBTQ folks during school hours at a school sanctioned event that the students couldnt opt out of? If it actually happened you would lose your crap. The difference is Beckwith is preaching hate and division under the guise of Christianity (which shouldnt be in public education). Why is any religion being pushed onto our children? I vote they bring in Pete Buttigieg. At least he isnt under a grand jury investigation like Beckwith.
    • Facebook User: Facebook User LGBTQ isn’t a religion. Hope that helps
    • Facebook User: Facebook User reaching? Nope, not at all.
    • Facebook User: Facebook User just shut up. I’m so tired of you idiots.
  • Facebook User: We need to keep these religious nut jobs out office period.

We need to disallow any any candidate that comes from a religious background. No more ministers, priests, rabbis, religious life coaches, faith based sober living guides, Jesus camp counselors, not even ordained ministers who only officiate weddings!

We absolutely must keep religious bias out of politics! Otherwise we run the risk of these fools steering us towards Armageddon in the name of some imaginary ghost-dad in the sky!

    • Secular Education Association: Facebook User we would like to add pregnancy centers to your list!
    • Facebook User: Find Jesus because your an absolute moron
    • Facebook User: Facebook User No, what I propose is to keep religious bias in check. I’m ok with people practicing their religion at home or in their respective churches, but trying to establish rules and laws based on faith is unacceptable.

      Examples:
abortion has no business being a political topic. No one has the right to tell me what I can or cannot do with my own body.

In god we trust should not be on our money.

Religion pushed under god into our pledge.

Our current administration is trying to establish us as a Christian nation.

Being a Christian is ok, but putting the bible before our country is unacceptable. Especially when our country is a mix of heritage and religion.

    • Facebook User: Facebook User as a Christian myself Jesus said love your neighbors not shove your beliefs down everyone’s throats. As a private citizen you have every right to publicly speak your religious truth. Once you are acting on behalf of the government separation of church and state must be followed. In this case Micah was speaking as the lieutenant governor meaning no religion in his speech. Its really not that difficult to understand
    • Facebook User: Facebook User it doesn’t matter if it was during the “official” speech or not Micah was still at that school as the lieutenant governor not a private citizen. Also while the constitution may not explicitly say “separation of church and state” but the first amendment makes it clear the government and religion must be separate and this has been supported by supreme court case rulings as well. Please explain how you can bring religion into government without governemnt into religion – they become intertwined and its not possible. If you legislate based on your religious beliefs you will be forcing others to practice their religion according to how the government tells them. You are further supporting my point with “shake the dust off your feet.” Jesus wanted people to have the choice not to force Christianity on everyone. Also you make it sound like it was some big scary thing the “leftists confronting Micah” like sir this man is a grown adult in a position of power. He was certainly not respectful in his answers and he could have told the students this wasn’t the time to discuss. Why was he hanging around if the program was concluded? Also the intro condemning the “woke agenda” was part of the program and certainly not needed since he was meant to discuss the job market in Indiana.
  • Facebook User: Welcome to Valparaiso folks.
  • Facebook User: Lt. Gov. Micah Beckwith’s response to Valparaiso’s apology confirms it. He admits he spoke to high school students about “his Christian faith and conservative values” — and defends it. Then he attacks the superintendent by name, celebrates his departure, and publicly hopes his replacement is friendlier to “Christian conservative viewpoints.”
A sitting Lt. Governor is using his office to punish a public school district for holding him accountable to minors in its care. Public schools are not pulpits. No title exempts a speaker from vetting — or from consequences.
Hoosiers across the state deserve much better — even if our current administration doesn’t act like it.

    • Facebook User: Facebook User “In God We Trust”
    • Facebook User: Remind us, again, who is the snowflake?

Immediately after I made this comment, I’ve been blocked from further replies on our Lieutenant Governor’s post. ❄️

    • Facebook User: Facebook User “separation of church and state”
    • Secular Education Association: Facebook User added when? For what reason. Sit down.
    • Facebook User: Facebook User not him using the lord’s name in vain! 😜🎪
    • Facebook User: Facebook User All others strictly cash.
    • Facebook User: Facebook User Oh, and our original motto was “E Pluribus Unum” “Out of many, one,” until a bunch of nut job Republicans changed it in 1956. Sounded too commie.
    • Facebook User: Facebook User instead, you would celebrate the silencing of conservative, Christian viewpoints? Seems a bit fascist.
    • Facebook User: Facebook User https://www.history.com/articles/pledge-allegiance-under-god-schools
  • Facebook User: This nonsense needs to go….in its entirety….back to the hell from whence it was born.
  • Facebook User: Everyone in Indiana knows, or should know, who & what he is. He should never have been invited no matter what his position is in the state. Disgusting. 🙄🤬
  • Facebook User: I live in valpo and send my kid to another school.
  • Facebook User: 🤣😂 so when the other side does it and makes sure to do it in the school and not encourage truancy it’s not ok. What happen to freedom of speech!? Oh wait that only works for leftist political views. GTFO
    • Facebook User: Facebook User the bot troll with no posts, no pics has been heard from. great profile
    • Facebook User: Facebook User learn to read the room, you fascist pedophile-supporting, prick.
    • Facebook User: Exactly. Bunch of whiney leftys. Pure garbage. Always have to cry about something. Boo hoo. Woke = Joke
    • Facebook User: Facebook User what democrat did that?
    • Facebook User: Facebook User STFU
  • Facebook User: You guys should see Beckwith’s response to this on his FB page.
  • Facebook User: If I was one of those parents, I would be apoplectic. You just know he’s gloating about it and dngaf about any laws or propriety.
    • Secular Education Association: Facebook User US TOO.
    • Facebook User: Facebook User What laws or propriety?
    • Facebook User: Facebook User For one, using public school funds and resources to give a political speech to a captive audience of children. For two, using his position of authority to bully the administration when he was called out for his flagrant behavior. Students also have the right not to be compelled to listen to political and religious speech.

It was not OK on any level. I can only imagine how the man in question would react if a liberal politician did the same thing.

    • Facebook User: Facebook User HES THE LT. GOVERNOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF is wrong with you people? I bet if dip shit Biden was there you would all be kneeling at his feet. Oh and you never listed any laws that were broken just your opinions…..
    • Facebook User: Facebook User OH NO! a teen heard a different perspective. They might be forced to think.
  • Facebook User: I can’t believe the school isn’t under more heat for this.
    • Facebook User: Facebook User a lot of parents probably agree with him. :/
    • Facebook User: Facebook User it’s brewing. We aren’t accepting the “apology” and taking steps to have things done.
    • Facebook User: Facebook User actually the local newspaper’s Facebook page, and the Lieutenant Governor’s Facebook account post both show a whole lot of people who are very angry at what he did.
    • Facebook User: I’ve been trying to follow this story but can’t find anyone who articulates what was actually said? Was it really that inappropriate for such a big commotion. Genuinely asking, not rage baiting lol?
  • Facebook User: God I loathe him so much
  • Facebook User: Tight Pants McGee needs to go. Beckwith is awful.
    • Zachary Parrish: “Tight Pants McGee” is all I’m going to refer to him as from now on 🤣
  • Facebook User: I taught there for four years. This doesn’t surprise me one bit.
    • Secular Education Association: Facebook User we’re curious. Wouldn’t it have been the superintendent who sought and or approved of Beckwith coming into the school to begin with?
    • Facebook User: Secular Education Association not necessarily. Because it was career day, it may have been school specific admin since it was a much larger list of people?
    • Secular Education Association: Facebook User thank you for the clarification. Makes complete sense. Regardless, as we pointed out in our other post- state leadership who admonish school administrators for protecting students are not defending education. They are threatening it.
  • Facebook User: Beckwith is white nationalist christofascist pos
  • Facebook User: Children need to be taught critical thinking… so they know how to evaluate information from a variety of sources and viewpoints.
    • Facebook User: Facebook User not according to MAGA, critical thinking has been banned.
    • Facebook User: Facebook User this isn’t how you teach critical thinking
  • Facebook User: “I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
    • Facebook User: Facebook User “God” not Jesus, God is subjective plus only added in the 1950s.
    • Facebook User: Facebook User and as a ridiculous knee-jerk reaction to the red scare era and the “godless commies”
    • Facebook User: Facebook User And added during the “Commie Scare” era.
    • Facebook User: Facebook User Why Eisenhower Added ‘Under God’ to the Pledge of Allegiance | HISTORY https://share.google/kXTJa6O6kZUAlNUP8
  • Facebook User: A true education exposes students to different viewpoints; it doesnt shelter them from opposition to their views. This is precisely how critical thinking skills are honed.
  • Facebook User: Can anyone explain what was said that was so inappropriate?
    • Facebook User: Facebook User talked about handjobs, that help you get the picture?
  • Facebook User: A woke school is a joke school
