🌈 Pride Month reminder:
You may not have a child in public school.
👉But the children sitting in public school classrooms today will not stay children forever.
They will become your coworkers.
Your employees.
Your nurses.
Your neighbors.
Your elected officials.
Your child’s teacher.
The person sitting on a jury.
The person voting on your rights.
So yes, it matters what they are being taught right now.
-It matters if public schools are making room for programs that teach children that LGBTQ+ people are sinful, broken, confused, or in need of fixing.
-It matters if children are being taught to see their queer classmates as problems to be solved instead of people to be respected.
-It matters if “character education” is being used as a softer name for exclusion.
Because this does not end when the bell rings.
Children grow up.
🚨The beliefs adults hand them become the culture the rest of us have to live in.
Public schools should prepare children to live in a pluralistic society.
Not train them to judge, exclude, or “save” everyone who is different from them.
🌈 All means all.
