Secular means these are children.
They are at school to learn.
🚫Not to be pressured.
🚫Not to be confused.
🚫Not to be bullied.
🚫Not to be told they are wrong, sinful, broken, excluded, or going to hell because of what their family believes; or doesn’t believe.
Secular does not mean children cannot be religious. 🚨It means public schools do not get to use the school day, school authority, school access, or school relationships to push religion onto them.
👉It means no child should have to navigate adult religious power struggles just to get through elementary school. EVER.
It means Jewish kids, Muslim kids, Hindu kids, atheist kids, Catholic kids, Protestant kids, questioning kids, and kids from every kind of family all get the same thing:
A public school that is safe. Neutral. And belongs to them, too.
🇺🇸Secular means religious freedom.
And religious freedom starts with protecting children from coercion.
