šØ They didnāt fail LifeWiseās background checksā¦ They passed them.
That is the part every parent, school board member, and superintendent needs to pay attention to.
After SEA helped uncover that two former LifeWise employees and one volunteer had been connected to child-sex-crime cases, LifeWise responded with the same polished script:
-Student safety is our highest priority.
-There were zero reports involving LifeWise students.
-They passed background checks.
-Multiple adults are present.
-These things happen in youth-serving organizations.
But āthey passed our background checksā is not the defense LifeWise thinks it is. It is the problem. Because SEAās newest investigation shows LifeWiseās background-check story has shifted again and again when public scrutiny hits.
First, LifeWise materials pointed to Protect My Ministry. ā”ļø Then, after SEA exposed Renee Beckās history and the story went public, ProScreening appeared. ā”ļø
Then ProScreening disappeared from LifeWiseās FAQ. ā”ļø Now, after more serious cases became public, LifeWise is pointing to ADP.
So what exactly are school boards and parents supposed to trust here?
A rotating vendor name?
A deleted FAQ?
A PR statement?
A private ministry saying āstudent safety is our top priorityā while public school children are being released during the school day into its care?
A vendor name is not a child-safety policy and a deleted FAQ is not transparency.
āTrust usā is not oversight or an assurance.
And passing a LifeWise background check does not automatically mean someone passed the same screening required to work with children inside a public school.
šØTHAT is the entire issue.
LifeWise wants access to public school children during the school day. Districts should not be accepting slogans, reassurances, or rotating vendor names.
They should require proof.
Proof that LifeWise meets or exceeds the same safety standard as the adults inside the schools those children are leaving.
Because āwe do background checksā is not enough. And if student safety is truly the priority, LifeWise should stop changing the cup and show the public what is underneath.

Now the background check story keeps changing; different vendors, different explanations, and no clear, uniform public standard for communities to verify.
So what exactly are families supposed to think?
