    Look at Florida as an example, Republicans since 1998 have had majority control, but we are 50th in the U.S. in average teacher pay, we have a high amount of school choice, which has hurt our ability to serve ese students. And we consistently get middling to below average results in national testing, with our students scores dipping significantly in middle and high school as they become dissulusioned with the broken system that Republicans have created and could solve for public schools at any time by actually legislating instead of shoveling kids off to contractors, which is generally where government sees the largest amount of waste, fraud, and abuse.

I live in a public district that has slashed administrative costs, offers a choice of programs from Montessori to Franklin back to basics and international baccalaureate also a wide variety of vocational programs outside of the also available vocational high school. Full day kindergarten, pre-k , art and music (free instruments if you can’t afford). Teachers even delayed a raise to ensure funding for all day kindergarten a few years ago. They are not failing kids. Sorry.
