🚨Nearly 60%.
LifeWise Eastern Pulaski says it served 228 students last school year at Eastern Pulaski Elementary School in Winamac, Indiana.
LifeWise serves grades 1–5 at this school. Available enrollment figures put those grades at roughly 390 students.
228 out of roughly 390 = about 58–59%.
That’s nearly 6 out of every 10 students in the grades LifeWise serves. 👀
Leaving public school during the school day to go to an off-campus location for religious instruction in a very specific form of Christianity.
And this is ONE school. In some communities, this is happening across entire districts.
So when someone tells you LifeWise is “just an optional program,” look at what happens when the optional program becomes the thing most of the kids are doing.
👉The children who don’t participate become the minority.
👉The school day starts being organized around the students who leave.
👉And a private religious program begins occupying an enormous amount of space in the culture of a public school.
If LifeWise is just beginning to appear in your district or your state, don’t look only at what it is today. Look at what it is designed to become.
Because this is what “optional” can look like once it reaches scale. 💁♀️
