NBC4 is reporting that Turning Point USA students at Ohio colleges say they are being mocked, intimidated and harassed on campus. Some of what was reported is ugly. 😔 But we’re not going to strip this story of its context…
Turning Point USA is now asking people to recognize the harm caused when students are judged, ostracized or targeted because of what they believe. 👀
Okay.
Then let’s have that ENTIRE conversation.
Because TPUSA publicly says its mission includes preserving “Christian values,” the “traditional family,” the “sanctity of marriage,” and defining biological sex as male and female. It says the church should play a role in the public square. And it says it is building that vision “one campus, one chapter, one church, and one student activist at a time.”
It has also operated the Professor Watchlist, publicly identifying educators it accuses of advancing leftist ideas. The American Association of University Professors says inclusion on that list has, in multiple cases, led to campaigns of online harassment against faculty.
And this is where it enters our lane. 🚗
Because SEA is watching these divisions being introduced to children younger and younger.
Not just through LifeWise…
-Through religious release-time programs.
-Through political youth organizations.
-Through culture-war campaigns aimed directly at schools.
-Through adults teaching children that there is a right kind of belief, a right kind of family, a right kind of identity — and people outside those boundaries are something to fear, fix, condemn or defeat.
TPUSA itself says its work starts in K–12, broadens in high school and deepens in college. And we’re already hearing the language of division among elementary-age children:
Who believes the right thing.
Who doesn’t.
Who is saved.
Who is going to hell.
Who belongs.
Who doesn’t.
Us. Them.
Then those kids get older.
And suddenly everyone is horrified that students are treating ideological, religious and political differences as permission to demean one another.
Where exactly did we think this was headed!?
🚫No student should be threatened.
🚫No professor should be threatened.
🚫No gay kid should be made to believe their family or identity makes them lesser.
🚫No Jewish, Muslim, Christian, atheist or agnostic child should be treated as an outsider because of what they believe — or don’t.
👉👉You cannot demand tolerance for yourself while building movements around intolerance toward everyone outside your worldview.👈👈
If we actually want young people who can disagree without dehumanizing each other, we have to stop teaching them that difference makes someone the enemy.
Otherwise, this isn’t a request for tolerance.
It’s a request for immunity from the culture you helped create. 💁♀️

☆ Off school property
☆ Not using tax payer resources or funds
☆ With written parental permission
☆ The school must do NO MORE than release- Zorach v Clauson: “If in fact coercion were used, if it were established that any one or more teachers were using their office to persuade or force students to take the religious instruction, a wholly different case would be presented.”And thus, a new court case needs to be presented and then Lifewise goes to after school where it belongs.
