“Secular” gets thrown around like it means something hostile to faith.
It doesn’t.
Think about it. Our courts are secular. Our police departments are secular. Our public libraries are secular. Even our post offices are secular.
🚫That doesn’t make them anti-Christian or anti-religion. It simply means they aren’t specifically religious institutions.
The same principle applies to public education. 👏
You can value faith, practice a religion, and respect the beliefs of others while supporting secular public schools.
Secular isn’t a bad word.
What people are saying:
- Facebook User: So you’re fine with implicitly religious?
- Secular Education Association: Facebook User Yes, Daniel. People can be implicitly religious. Explicitly religious. Extremely religious. Knock yourself out.
Government is the part that should be secular. That’s the entire point. Secularism doesn’t tell you what to believe; it prevents the government from deciding whose beliefs get privileged.
