LOTS of darkness. They aren’t praying against people. They’re praying against the evil causing the darkness using what’s written in the Bible as promises from God that he’s there with them. I would think you would want to partner with an organization that is teaching kids to do better. What are you afraid of? There is an absolute attack on Lifewise. My Christian upbringing kept me from ending myself in Junior High. It has made me value ALL people because the God I serve loves ALL especially those lost in sin. I know it’s difficult for people like you to understand that not everyone shares your beliefs. You’re raised to think you’re the only correct ones and that brainwashing runs deep. The Satanic Temple has a counselor program they have offered to schools in Florida. Do you think your local public school should partner with them? The Catholic church still has an office of Exorcism and promotes this ritual for people with mental illnesses. Should a public school invite a priest in to deal with kids that are exhibiting mental stress? There are thousands of religions in this world and almost every one of them has a ritual or set of techniques to deal with mental illnesses, violent personalities etc. etc. You think your ritual of prayer is a cure-all in a world where we have learned that people who have these problems are not possessed by demons (like Jesus believed), but have real scientific conditions that are best addressed by professional science trained people. Public schools don’t need prayer or exorcism or any other religious approach to help their students. Those “cures” are best left to venues outside of a public school where students who attend have all kinds of religious or non-religious backgrounds.

    Especially LGBTQ+ children who have been told they’re sinful, broken, or destined for hell simply for existing.
    You listed abuse, bullying, mental illness, and violence as evidence of “darkness” in public schools. Yet somehow your solution is to give an evangelical ministry access to more children during the school day?
    LifeWise is not a mental health organization. It does not provide evidence-based treatment for childhood trauma or suicidal ideation. Its mission is religious instruction and evangelism.
    And no, we don’t want to partner with an organization that teaches children they are sinners in need of salvation. We want public schools to have qualified counselors, social workers, and the resources necessary to actually help struggling children. Your personal experience with religion does not erase the very real harm other children have experienced because of religion.

    We’re not afraid of Christianity. We’re opposed to the assumption that your religious beliefs should be imposed on other people’s children. Children in crisis need help. They do not need to become somebody’s mission field.
