🚨 UPDATE: REMEMBER THE WADSWORTH, OHIO MOTHER WHO SAID NO TO LIFEWISE?
Take a look at LifeWise Academy’s own enrollment paperwork. Before signing, a parent must affirm:
“I have the legal right to and am signing this permission form on behalf of myself and the child’s other parent or legal guardian.”
ON BEHALF OF BOTH PARENTS.
But that’s not all. LifeWise ALSO specifically asks about custody arrangements and no-contact orders, provides space to explain them, and allows another parent or guardian to be identified.
So LifeWise clearly recognizes that parental authority matters…
Yet this morning, we shared the account of a mother who says she refused LifeWise for her three children IN WRITING, only to discover they’d been attending for weeks.
Their father enrolled them, and Wadsworth City Schools allegedly continued releasing them despite knowing she objected.
SO WE HAVE QUESTIONS. AND WE WANT ANSWERS.
Did the father disclose the custody arrangement? Did LifeWise verify his authority? Did the school review the custody order?
And what happens when one parent provides written consent and the other explicitly refuses?
A CHECKBOX IS NOT A CUSTODY ORDER.
These are not hypothetical concerns. They are happening. They are serious questions about parental rights, student safety, and the legal responsibilities of public schools.
We are demanding a clear, public explanation of what safeguards exist, who is responsible for enforcing them, and what happens when those safeguards fail.
Parents should not have to discover that their children have been attending religious instruction against their express wishes before anyone starts asking these questions.
What people are saying:
- Facebook User: What was done isn’t on Lifewise or the school. It’s between the parents and needs addressed between them and if not then through the courts. This could happen with boyscouts or any other after school program and you wouldn’t care. This group is just anti-christian
- Facebook User: Facebook User oh good the pedo apologists are here.
I’m pro-education. I’m pro-teacher. I’m pro-science.
I’m against the BULLYING & OSTRACIZATION Lifewise Academy creates. I’m against the Schools that openly welcome antisemitism and this cancer.
I’m not anti-Christian.
Lifewise Academy is Christian Nationalism and that is never Christian (though it claims to be).The question is why is your burden to prioritize religious instruction on your time the school’s burden??? Why do other kids have to have their education truncated because you don’t care about real education during public school hours????
I would say this to ANY RTRI program parent by the way.
- Facebook User: Facebook User this isn’t after school though it’s during school hours and that’s the key difference between “scouts” and this ish. Maybe some people want their children learning their actual school curriculum during the hours they are supposed to be there. No one is anti christian you all want to be oppressed so bad it’s hilarious
- Facebook User: Facebook User Who cares. It’s optional. Quit telling other parents how to raise their kids and how to make the decisions regarding that. My kids could do half days and still get good grades because I actually raise them. My oldest had two associates degrees before she got her diploma from high school. We can choose for ourselves. Your hatred disguised as concern for kids isn’t hilarious, it’s sad and old. I mean this as kindly as possible but we don’t care about your feelings when it comes to our kids and their educations.
- Facebook User: Facebook User oh good the pedo apologists are here.
- Facebook User: If this was any other religion except xtian this whole town would be on fire
- Facebook User: Facebook User exactly, what if another religion spoke like this?
- Facebook User: Facebook User preposterous
- Facebook User: She can also sue to amend the custody agreement since the father knowingly checked these boxes. She can get free help with legal aid.
- Facebook User: Facebook User Im sorry, have you ever applied to legal aid before? The wait list is long and it could be months if not over a year before anyone gets back to her. Then to qualify for legal aid even harder. She shouldn’t have to file an amendment, if she has residential custody the answer was no and is no. End of discussion.
- Facebook User: Facebook User fair point, thank you.
- Facebook User: This 💩 is so stupid! Meanwhile the Asians and Europeans are concentrating on teaching more complex maths and sciences to their children. Here Republicans want to educate their kids in religion. And my neighborhood in Wadsworth/Sharon, has turned into a large “homeschooling”, =aka they spend most time outside playing. I’ve never seen anything like it. Hopefully she hires a lawyer, & a good one, just to make a statement for others.
- Facebook User: All this to separate and groom kids? Get them out of the public schools!
- Facebook User: Being associated with LifeWise should be a felony.
- Facebook User: School district gets to experience an avoidable lawsuit for violating court orders for 3 children. That will be 3 times the punitive award, right? Hiring dumb, arrogant administrators is expensive.
