Remind us again which verse it is that says bribe the little children unto me…

What people are saying:

  • Secular Education Association: “…a bribe blinds the clear-sighted and subverts the cause of those who are in the right.” – Exodus 23:8

I guess LifeWise skipped that lesson. 🤔

    • Facebook User: Secular Education Association 😂 seriously? A bribe implies a prize given in exchange for a wrong being done. Obviously you find something wrong with the kids leaning into their Bible teaching. I’m guessing you are all in support of students receiving prizes and incentives for learning at school otherwise. So the problem is just with you and biblical education, not with education in general. Also “the Lord rewards those who diligently seek him” Hebrews 11:6. So there’s that. All your arguments will repeatedly fall flat on those who understand.
    • Secular Education Association: Facebook User You just compared God rewarding faith in Hebrews 11:6 to adults offering children prizes for participating in and recruiting for a religious program. You really don’t see the difference? A teacher rewarding a student for completing schoolwork is not the same as a religious organization using candy, prizes, or other incentives to encourage children to participate in and help spread its evangelical Christian instruction. And no, children learning the Bible isn’t inherently a problem. Parents are free to teach their children religion. The issue is how religious organizations recruit and incentivize children during the public school day. You can quote Scripture all you want. It doesn’t answer that concern.

And since you brought up biblical understanding, Exodus 23:8 is about how gifts can distort judgment. That’s precisely why the use of incentives deserves scrutiny. 💁‍♀️
The fact that something is religious doesn’t make it immune from criticism.

    • Facebook User: Secular Education Association “Man who never reads Bible expert in all things Biblical” 😆
  • Facebook User: Uhhh..isn’t this grooming..except doing it under the guise of religion?
  • Facebook User: We earned things like this when I was in secular elementary school. It’s to build healthy habits and disciplines.
    • Zachary Parrish: Facebook User healthy habits like wearing your cult uniform
    • Facebook User: Facebook User yeah if not for the shirt
    • Secular Education Association: Facebook User ah but your secular elementary offered those incentives to ALL the children correct? And they were for healthy habits and disciplines – not for performative advertising. I mean. 👀
    • Facebook User: Secular Education Association If you mean ALL the children no. Because any child that wasn’t apart of that school didn’t get those.
    • Secular Education Association: Facebook User mmmk yep. keep commenting! It drives the algorithm!
    • Facebook User: Facebook User but let’s use some critical thinking. You were learning facts to earn those rewards. They are learning fiction.
    • Facebook User: Secular Education Association I’m fine with the algorithm, would love to have people educated, in public schools if you’re not in that school system you don’t participate in what the school system offers. If you dont go to the school system you can’t get what you’re not apart of.
  • Facebook User: Sounds like buying compliance to me.
  • Facebook User: Eww. This is so incredibly gross.
  • Facebook User: I’m thinking I need to get my kids “KIDS AGAINST LIFEWISE” shirts to wear. They are 11 and 12, with their dad’s attitude.
    • Facebook User: Facebook User I’ll make them and send them to you 🙋🏻‍♀️
    • Facebook User: Facebook User totally support this as long as they enthusiastically want to do it. I wouldn’t ask my kid to wear one in our district where it would put a target on her back with both classmates and teachers.
  • Facebook User: Oh yeah, get them used to that company store life! The children continue to yearn for the mines.
  • Facebook User: Why the sad face emoji, I wonder?
    • Zachary Parrish: Facebook User because children don’t like being brainwashed
  • Zachary Parrish: Win prizes for wearing your LifeWise shirt…..but it’s not at all creating a divisive us vs. them culture in schools right 🙄
    • Facebook User: Facebook User Because there is zero divisive culture when it comes to brand names or school spirit clothes already. Are you protesting when the kiddies wear their school shirts on game day. That hurts the feelings of the kids too poor to buy one.
    • Facebook User: Facebook User Lange, that’s a strawman fallacy!
    • Zachary Parrish: Facebook User kiddies?? Someone check this guy’s Internet history 🚩🚩
  • Facebook User: Thor is pretty pissed about this.
  • Facebook User: Nothing wrong with that. Many kids don’t know Jesus and should have that choice. Jesus died for us and kids should be able to know who he is. At the end everyone will know the truth and for many it will be to late
    • Zachary Parrish: Facebook User so teach your kids your fairy tales after school
    • Facebook User: Facebook User then YOU teach them on your dime and on your time. They are not getting a choice. They are being bribed and brainwashed.
    • Facebook User: Facebook User did you know that it was hundreds of years after Jesus’s death that the church decided that Jesus died for our sins? Before that it was a demonstration of the oppression of Christ by the Romans. Once Rome picked up Christianity they couldn’t look like the bad guys so they changed it. What you believe is not the truth. It’s the manipulation of the Roman Emperor
  • Facebook User: What it looks like if anyone was curious
  • Facebook User: 😮
  • Facebook User: Athletics, Spirit wear rewards, brownies and boy scouts, behavior rewards at school are all the same. So ?
    • Facebook User: Facebook User they’re essentially paying the kids with treats to advertise for them. That’s the difference.
    • Facebook User: Facebook User why do you hate childhood joys?
    • Facebook User: Facebook User I don’t?? That’s a random accusation.
    • Facebook User: Facebook User strawman and ad hominem fallacy 😭 what a weird response
    • Facebook User: Facebook User you’re diagnosing my response, now that’s weird. 😂
    • Facebook User: Facebook User calling out your fallacies isn’t weird. It’s what intelligent people do 🙂
  • Facebook User: So do you have a problem with the districts incentive program? Being incentivized for good behavior and effort is a fact of life that we as adults still benefit from. Merit base raises, earned vacation time, awards, etc… disagree with what they teach all you want. Don’t sign your kid up to participate, and most importantly don’t place disproportionate outrage towards any organization that you’re not willing to apply across the board.
  • Facebook User: Could they try to come up with more ways to use and manipulate children???
  • Facebook User: How dare they give prizes to kids that want them. Something that’s been done in every elementary school and function forever. Is this serious?
  • Facebook User: I can’t imagine a more worthless cause than what the secular Education Association does
  • Facebook User: Gross indoctrination! Sick!
  • Facebook User: If you support this, you do not support American values. You should be ashamed.. Home school your kids and indoctrinate them n your own. Oh, it’s too much work? Then you don’t care enough. You steal public money. You have no honor or ethics.
  • Facebook User: No good in LifeWise
  • Facebook User: Lifewise is a cult of nuts
  • Facebook User: Christians are the nastiest people on earth. They will do whatever they want to achieve their goals of indoctrination of children with fairy tales and falsehoods.
  • Facebook User: The whole religion is that way. “Believe in Jesus and he’ll give you eternal life.” Sounds like a bribe.
  • Facebook User: “Why, yes, we are bribing children to come to our ‘religious education class.’ ”
